Streetwise

Our favorite songs reflected what was real in our lives.

Competitive

We worked hard to build and sharpen our skills and expected nothing but the best from music artists.

Confident

Preparation, high standards, and integrity gave us confidence. So while we loved our pop songs, especially those with roots in the blues, we also realized that jazz and gospel set high quality standards — a standard reflected in the music JSR writes and produces today.

    Divas Redemption featuring Paul Smith

Divas Redemption, featuring Paul Smith, is a North Jersey gospel group that blends traditional gospel, today's R&B and jazz. And for good measure, you can sometimes hear a taste of country. In February 2011, the group has been nominated in the Gospel song category for "Love Him 4 That" in The 10th annual Independent Music Awards program. In 2010, the group won the  McDonald's Gospelfest award for "Best Vocal Group". The "Divas" part of their name fits the ladies' style of dress and onstage demeanor – fiery, soulful and delightful, while "Redemption" reflects the core message in their music. The "Divas" – Faye Chapman, Keshia Clark and Jeanie Brower -- interchangeably share lead and background roles. Featured lead vocalist, Paul Smith, is a veteran gospel singer and former Brower Brothers group member. No strangers to gospel fans along the east coast, collectively, they have performed in Europe and Japan and on shows with the likes of Paul Anka, Georgia Mass Choir, Rev. Milton Bingham, Brower Brothers, Rev. John Kee, Lee Williams and a host of others. All four members are strong songwriters, and Paul is a talented guitarist. In 2009, the group completed a five-song EP, which was released on indie-label Jay St Records. In March 2010 and, again in February 2011, DR thrilled the crowd at the Annual Gospel Extravaganza in Olive Branch, MS. With a full CD released November 2010, the group will continue efforts to be heard and seen, and be recoginized as a major new voice in today's gospel music.

    Barbara Roy

The gutsy soulfulness of Barbara Roy's vocals produced numerous hits during the early 70's.....yet the history of Barbara Roy (Barbara Gaskins) began in the late 60's as a charismatic duo with niece Brenda Gaskins known as Barbara & Brenda. Barbara Roy was the lead singer, and wrote most of their music. She was and continues to be an outstanding guitarist as well. Together they recorded several singles: Hurting Inside, Special Kind of Love and One More Chance under the Heidi Recording Label a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, then respectively with Dynamo Records, If I'm Hurt You'll Feel The Pain, Never Love A Robin, and Don't Wait Up For Me Mama.By the late 60's, Barbara, began playing guitar for other artists, such as Wilson Picket, Inez & Charlie Fox and performed with Otis Redding and other major artists. Soon she went solo and co-organized the group Ecstasy, Passion & Pain. The group consisted of four people, of which she was the lead singer, lead/rhythm guitarist and writer for the group. They played music as a team and their chemistry was compatible.

Also, Cape Town and Swazi Land in South Africa. Barbara and EP&P toured for two and a half months enlighting the hearts and generating smiles on the faces of the South African People with their great music. Also the nation's hottest TV shows, Soul Train (twice performed), American Band Stand, and the Mike Douglas Show. During the 1980's, Barbara signed with the Roy B Records Label, where she became known as Barbara Roy & Ecstasy, Passion & Pain releasing the single, If You Want Me---keeping her in the lime light performing at many popular venues and touring across the US and the UK. Barbara later recorded two other chart hitting songs, Gotta See You Tonight, and With All My Love, produced by Paul Simpson on the RCA Record Label. Today, the resurgence of her music in Europe has the international community buzzing in preparation to have Barbara Roy return to the UK. Her present projects include radio show interviews, live show cases and even performing for the under privileged. Her most recent project was just completed on September, 2010, with Jay St. Records, an independent label spearheaded by Harry Henderson and producer Ron Foster. GOS"
    Gerry O. Simpson

Gerry Simpson is an East Coast singer/songwriter who lives in Northern California. GOS" is his nom de plume. Gerry is an artist in the true sense of the word; he is a visual artist, fashion designer, photographer, published writer and author who uses his live performances to enhance the listening experience. Gerry feels that the music he sings comes from his heart and is a way to express not only his feelings but the feelings of many people in the world. He calls his music GFM… Grown Folks Music, the kind of music that makes you feel good about yesterday, today and tomorrow. His songs are about love, relationships, people and their emotions. Gerry co-writes his music with the gifted and talented producer Harold Kenner. Musical influences include Jackie Wilson, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and many more. Gerry’s objective is to get the music heard, build a fan base and generate interest from a major record label. The first step has been taken with the release of the song Nature’s Finest Moment, a song written and produced by Harry Henderson for indie label Jay St Records. An EP is underway for completion during the first quarter 2012, with a full album release by late 2012. Meanwhile, Gerry plans to perform live at events on both coasts. He loves the magic and excitement of performing live with a band and in front of multigenerational and multicultural fans.
